Dave Scalia is a Brooklyn, NY based professional drummer, producer, and songwriter. He received his bachelors degree in Jazz Studies from the acclaimed Jacobs School Of Music at Indiana University, where he studied under Steve Houghton and the late Dr. David Baker. In 2010, he graduated with the "Performers Certificate" honor which is awarded as special recognition of musical understanding and technical proficiency. Upon graduation, Dave was selected for the prestigious Ravina Steans Institute for Jazz where he performed alongside the nations top young jazz artists. For over a decade, Dave has been based in Brooklyn, NY working as a session and touring drummer, producer, and songwriter. He has worked with internationally renown musicians, Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum recording artists, as well as underground and experimental musicians.
Live performance and studio credits include Elle King, White Rabbits, Gabriel Garzon Montano, Dawn Richard, Theo Katzman, Maude Latour, Sky Ferreira, Miranda Lambert, Cayucas, Brazos, A Great Big World, Darren Criss, Joey Dosik, Dierks Bentley, and Dev Hynes.
Dave also has extensive credits as a jazz musician, performing or recording with accomplished musicians like Frank Glover, Corey Wilkes, Linda Oh, Marquis Hill, Calude Sifferlin, Maurice Brown, Randy Brecker, the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, and the Steve Allee Big Band.
He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Sesame Street, The Voice, The View, Kelly and Ryan, The Graham Norton Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and The Late Late show with James Corden.
As a touring drummer, Dave has performed in over 24 countries and iconic venues including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Hollywood Bowl, Glastonbury Festival, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork Festival, Summer Sonic Tokyo, and Coachella. Dave has written music which has appeared on HBO's "Big Little Lies", Netflix's "Riverdale" and composed music for short film, documentaries, and commercials including ADIDAS and The NFL.
Recently, Dave toured extensively with Elle King alongside Heart, Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Willie Nelson, Robert Plant, and Miranda Lambert supporting Elle's second record, “Shake The Spirit” for which he is credited as a drummer, co-producer and co-writer.
